Wedges and cubes
Wash the rind, then cut off both ends so the melon stands flat.
Halve from top to bottom; scoop out seeds of cantaloupe-type melons.
Cut into wedges.
Lay each wedge on its side and run the knife between flesh and rind.
Cut into slices or cubes.
Tips
- For watermelon sticks: cut into 3 cm thick rounds, then lay flat and cut a grid, slicing off the rind.
Safety
- Wash the rind before cutting — the knife carries surface bacteria into the flesh. Refrigerate cut melon.
