How these numbers were made

  • Calculated from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy) per-100 g values and the listed quantities.
  • *Per 100 g of combined raw ingredients; the cooked dish may weigh more or less.
  • Optional ingredients are not included: parsley, lemon.
  • “—” means the value isn’t known for enough of the ingredients; it is never zero by default.

Good to know

Tips

  • A squeeze of lemon at the table brightens the rich tomato broth.

Common mistakes

  • Adding the pasta too early: it swells and turns the soup into porridge.

Serve with

  • Serve at iftar with dates, bread and brik.

Storage

  • Keeps 3 days in the fridge; the pasta keeps absorbing liquid.

Reheating

  • Reheat with extra water until piping hot.
