  3. Step 3

Grill over high heat for 1½–2 minutes per side, until pink all over and just firm.

Food safety: Prawns are cooked when the flesh is opaque and pink throughout.

  4. Step 4

Drizzle with lemon juice (opens in a new tab), scatter with parsley (opens in a new tab) and serve with lemon (opens in a new tab) wedges.

How these numbers were made

  • Calculated from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy) per-100 g values and the listed quantities.
  • *Per 100 g of combined raw ingredients; the cooked dish may weigh more or less.
  • Optional ingredients are not included: lemon.
  • Red chilli flakes: Ground cayenne (FDC 170932) used as a stand-in for dried chilli flakes such as pul biber or Aleppo pepper.
  • “—” means the value isn’t known for enough of the ingredients; it is never zero by default.

Good to know

Tips

  • Two parallel skewers per batch stop the prawns spinning when you turn them.

Common mistakes

  • Overcooking — prawns go from juicy to rubbery in under a minute.

Serve with

  • Serve with a tomato salad and crusty bread, or over the chickpea-bulgur salad.

Food safety

  • Keep raw prawns chilled until they go on the grill; cook until opaque and pink throughout (63 °C). Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours.

Storage

  • Refrigerate leftovers up to 1 day.

Reheating

  • Best eaten cold the next day in a salad rather than reheated.
