Method
Step 1
Pour the milk (opens in a new tab) into the blender (opens in a new tab) first, then add the protein powder (opens in a new tab) and cocoa — powder on top of liquid stops it caking on the bottom.
Step 2
Add the frozen banana (opens in a new tab), peanut butter (opens in a new tab) (if using) and ice, and blend for 30–40 seconds until smooth and frothy.
Step 3
Pour and drink straight away, or take it in a sealed bottle and shake before drinking.

Good to know
Tips
- Blending too long whips whey into a stiff foam; 30–40 seconds is enough.
Common mistakes
- Adding the powder first to a dry jug, where it sticks under the blades.
Food safety
- Protein powders vary in composition; check the label for allergens and serving size.
Storage
- Best fresh; keeps a few hours chilled in a sealed bottle.
