    How these numbers were made

    • Calculated from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy) per-100 g values and the listed quantities.
    • *Per 100 g of combined raw ingredients; the cooked dish may weigh more or less.
    • Optional ingredients are not included: turmeric, coriander leaves, pumpkin seeds.
    • “—” means the value isn’t known for enough of the ingredients; it is never zero by default.

    Good to know

    Tips

    • The sweeter the carrots, the better the soup — taste one raw first.

    Common mistakes

    • Under-cooking the carrots — they must be completely soft or the soup will be grainy.

    Storage

    • Keeps 4 days chilled; freezes well.

    Reheating

    • Reheat gently, adding water to loosen.

    Variations

    • Roasted carrot soup: Roast the carrots and onion at 200°C for 35 minutes before simmering for a deeper, caramelised flavour.
