Good to know

Tips

  • The avocado must be fully ripe — it should yield to gentle pressure — or the shake will taste grassy.

Common mistakes

  • Making it ahead: avocado browns and turns bitter within an hour.

Serve with

  • Street stalls often drizzle condensed milk inside the glass before pouring.

Storage

  • Drink immediately.

Variations

  • Es alpukat (Indonesia): Indonesian version: avocado mashed or blended with ice and sugar, the glass streaked with chocolate syrup.
  • Vitamina de abacate (Brazil): Brazilian avocado blended with milk, sugar and a squeeze of lime.
