Food safety: The centre is soft; cook a little longer for anyone who should avoid undercooked eggs.

How these numbers were made

  • Calculated from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy) per-100 g values and the listed quantities.
  • *Per 100 g of combined raw ingredients; the cooked dish may weigh more or less.
  • Optional ingredients are not included: chives, black pepper.
  • “—” means the value isn’t known for enough of the ingredients; it is never zero by default.

Good to know

Tips

  • Rub a little butter over the top for a glossy finish.

Common mistakes

  • Too-high heat, which browns the outside before the centre sets.

Serve with

  • Serve with a green salad and bread.

Storage

  • Eat immediately; an omelette does not keep or reheat well.

Variations

  • Omelette aux fines herbes: Beat chopped parsley, chives, tarragon and chervil into the eggs.
