Chicory coffee (café au lait style)
Vegetarian
Coffee brewed with roasted chicory root for a darker, more bitter, heavier cup, then mixed half-and-half with hot milk. Chicory has no caffeine, so the blend has less than the same amount of pure coffee.
Chicory coffee (café au lait style) is a Southern US hot drink from United States, ready in about 7 minutes and made with finely ground coffee, roasted ground chicory root and milk. It serves 2 and is rated beginner to cook.

Tips
- A drip coffee maker works too: mix the chicory into the coffee in the filter.
Storage
- Drink fresh.
Variations
- Black chicory coffee: Skip the milk; it is strong and bitter on its own.
- Caffeine-free chicory brew: Use all chicory (about 10 g per 300 ml) for a coffee-like drink with no caffeine.
