  2. Step 2

Add the mint (opens in a new tab) leaves and press them gently just two or three times — enough to release their oils without shredding them.

    • 1 min
  3. Step 3

Fill the glass with crushed ice, top with sparkling water (opens in a new tab) and stir from the bottom to lift the mint (opens in a new tab). Garnish with a mint sprig.

How these numbers were made

  • Calculated from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy) per-100 g values and the listed quantities.
  • *Per 100 g of combined raw ingredients; the cooked dish may weigh more or less.
  • Ice: Frozen water; same composition as water.
  • “—” means the value isn’t known for enough of the ingredients; it is never zero by default.

Good to know

Tips

  • Slap the garnish sprig between your palms before adding it to release its aroma.

Common mistakes

  • Pulverising the mint, which makes the drink bitter and leaves bits stuck in the straw.

Storage

  • Make to order.

Variations

  • Ginger nojito: Use ginger ale or ginger beer instead of soda water and skip the sugar.
