Ingredients

1 cup (about 240 ml)

Method

  1. Step 1

Spoon the condensed milk (opens in a new tab) into a warmed cup and pull the espresso (opens in a new tab) onto it. Stir until smooth.

  2. Step 2

Steam the 180 ml milk (opens in a new tab) to 60–65 °C — hot to touch but not boiling — letting in a little air at the start for a silky microfoam.

Food safety: Steam wands and freshly steamed milk are scalding: purge the wand away from your hand and wipe it straight after use.

  3. Step 3

Pour the milk (opens in a new tab) into the sweet espresso (opens in a new tab) and serve. For iced: stir the espresso and condensed milk (opens in a new tab), then pour over ice with cold milk.

How these numbers were made

  • Calculated from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy) per-100 g values and the listed quantities.
  • *Per 100 g of combined raw ingredients; the cooked dish may weigh more or less.
  • Optional ingredients are not included: ice.
  • “—” means the value isn’t known for enough of the ingredients; it is never zero by default.

Good to know

Tips

  • Condensed milk is already very sweet: start with 1 tbsp.

Storage

  • Make to order and drink straight away; milk foam collapses and coffee loses its aroma within minutes.
